The road part of the bridge to Crimea is completed

Thus, a 17-kilometer long bridge from Taman to Crimea is fully assembled. Part of the road (more than six kilometers) passes over the sea water area, gradually rising from five to 35 meters above the channel of the Kerch-Enikal canal.

A thread of metal structures with a total weight of more than 100 thousand tons is stretched over the Kerch Strait between 288 supports.

The construction of spans over the water area was carried out by the method of longitudinal slideways: the segments were enlarged on the slipway, then they were moved toward the fairway with the help of powerful jacks.

In the company "Stroygazmontazh" (general contractor) earlier said that the work is being done ahead of schedule. This also applies to the construction of the railway section of the bridge - now its sea pillars are being erected, the spans will begin to be built before the end of winter.

In 2018, an automated system for managing traffic flows will be installed on the bridge.

The bridge across the Kerch Strait will be the longest in Russia. The beginning of the movement of cars on it is planned for December 2018, trains - for December 2019. The total cost of the project is 227.92 billion rubles.
