Balaklava - Sevastopol, Crimea
December 02, 2017Balaklava is an area in the south of Sevastopol, 15 km from the city center. Symbol and main attraction Balaklava is the same Balaklava bay, one of the most beautiful on the planet and the most convenient in the Crimea for mooring sea vessels. The bay goes deep into the land, and the entrance to it is almost invisible from the high seas. Balaklava has been developing as a resort since the end of the XIX century, when private cottages and boarding houses, mud baths, a solid hotel appeared here, the winemaking started.
On our days Balaklava not only preserved the status of a popular resort but also multiplied it. Everyone who at least once sees this wonderful corner of the Crimea in the photo will necessarily become fired by the desire to get here even for a couple of days.
What to do in Balaclava? Absolutely obligatory and necessary point of the program of rest is an exit on a boat to the open sea with a survey of a picturesque coast and visiting of unique wild beaches. If you go by sea from Balaklava towards Sevastopol, then on the way will be the enchanting beaches of Cape Fiolent; if you go to the other side - to the southern coast of Crimea, then you will have the opportunity to see and visit the cozy wild beaches around Cape Aya and the natural boundary of Fig. All listed places for beach holidays are best visited by water transport because the path overland takes a lot of time and effort: the relief is too complex in this region. In Balaklava, there are a lot of attractions that deserve your attention: Underground plant for repair of submarines, Chembalo Fortress, Balaklava St. George Monastery. Do not forget that the nearby are the legendary Sevastopol, the southern coast of the Crimea, Bakhchisaray - places with a truly inexhaustible number of interesting places.
The most picturesque place in Balaklava, without a doubt, is the embankment of Nazukin. From here you can see a stunning view of the Crimean mountains and the ruins of the Cembalo fortress. The ornament of the embankment are openwork mansions built in the XIX century. A special pleasure is given by walks along the narrow streets of Balaklava, where the spirit of the past centuries still reigns. Balaclava is an ideal place for active leisure activities: sea fishing, mountain tours on quad bikes and bicycles, diving and kayaking. A separate item of the program should become familiar with local restaurants, which feature authentic Black Sea cuisine with obligatory local color.
